Report a site

Tell us about a site that's a scam, and what happens next.

Report a site

Every page of a site on a shinglesites.site address ends with a Report this site link. It opens our report page with the site's address filled in. You can also open that page and type the address yourself.

Choose what's wrong with the site:

  • Scam or fraud: it asks for money for something that isn't real.
  • Fake login or payment page: it asks for a password, or bank or card details.
  • Pretends to be another business: it uses another business's name or brand.
  • Harmful or illegal: it breaks the law or could put people at risk.
  • Something else: tell us what's wrong.

Add what you saw, and your email if you'd like to hear what we did. The site's owner never sees who reported it.

What happens next

We review every report. If a site breaks our rules, we take it offline: its address then shows a page saying there's no site there. One report is enough for us to look; we never take a site down just because many people reported it.

If we take your site offline

We email everyone on your team who is an owner or admin, with the reason and anything we want you to know. Your site's card in Sites says Offline, and the editor tells you what happened.

While your site is offline:

  • Visitors can't see it, and you can't publish it or a blog post on it.
  • You can still edit it, look back through its versions and read its form responses.

If you think we made a mistake, choose Ask for a review in the editor, or reply to our email, and tell us what your site is for. If we restore it, we email you again, and you can publish it whenever you're ready. We don't put it back online for you.
