Shingle help
Pages
Add, rename, move and remove your site's pages.
One page or several
When you build a site, Shingle decides whether it should be one page or several, and says why under What we understood. A first build makes up to 6 pages, and a site can hold up to 12.
See every page
On a site of several pages, the menu above the preview names the page you're looking at. Choose another page there, or follow a link inside the preview. On a phone, the menu sits over the site.
The Pages tab lists every page in menu order, with its web address. Choose a page to show it in the preview. Once your site is published, the tab marks each page that differs from what's live: Not live yet, Changed or New address.
Rename, hide and reorder
Choose More beside a page:
- Page details… changes its name in the menu, its search title and description, and its web address.
- Move up and Move down change its place in the menu.
- Hide from menu takes it out of the menu. It's still public: anyone with the link, and search engines, can find it.
Your blog has a row too. Choose Menu name… to rename it, move it up or down, or hide it from the menu. It joins your live menu once a post is live, and Manage posts opens the Blog tab.
These edits are free, and each one makes a new version you can undo.
If your menu is part of your site's design, the tab offers Connect the menu instead, so you can rename, hide and reorder pages yourself. Connecting it is a change, so it uses 1 credit.
Add a page
Choose Add a page in the Pages tab or in the page menu. Say what the page is for, or start from a suggestion like Prices or Questions. You can choose its name, its web address and whether it's in the menu, or leave them to Shingle.
Shingle writes the page in your site's design, from the facts on your site and what you write. Every other page stays as it is. Adding a page uses 2 credits, and can take several minutes. You can leave the page while it's written.
To make a page like one you have, choose Make a page like this… beside it.
Move a page
To give a page a new web address, change Web address in its details. Links to it on your site move with it, and pages under it keep their addresses. If a link can't be moved, Shingle offers to move the page and its links for you, which uses 1 credit.
If your site is live, visitors using the old address are sent to the new one.
Remove a page
Choose Remove page… beside it. You can bring it back from History. Your home page can't be removed.
If other pages link to it, Shingle offers to remove the page and those links for you, which uses 1 credit.
When the page is live, choose where its visitors go: your home page, another page, or your site's own page not found. The page stays live until you publish your updates.
Change one page
To ask for a change to one page, choose Change this page beside it, or aim the change at it. See Ask for changes.
