Shingle help

Blog posts

Write, organize and publish articles on your site.

Write a post

Open your site and choose Blog. Create a post, add a title and write your article. Select words and use Heading, Bold, List or Link to format them. You can also write in plain words.

Open Settings to add a summary for the blog listing, an author name and tags. Use Preview to read the article before saving.

Saving keeps a draft for your team. A published post keeps showing its earlier content until you publish your updates.

Get help writing

Choose Write with Shingle and describe the article you want, including its audience and any facts it should use. Shingle prepares a draft for you to review and edit.

For a more useful draft, give it a customer question, a few verified details and the tone or length you want. It uses your business details and brief; it does not research the web. It follows your published site's language when one is set.

Check names, dates, claims and advice before publishing. AI writing uses 1 of your team's credits, which comes back if the request fails. Writing and editing by hand use none.

Publish a post

Your site must be live before a post can be published. Check the preview and choose Publish post when you are ready; it saves your latest writing first. Shingle updates your site so the article shares its design and navigation.

The post says Publishing while this runs. It becomes public when the update finishes. You can keep writing meanwhile; later draft edits stay private until you publish them separately. Publishing a post uses no credits.

If publication fails, the previous public version stays available. Retry publishing repeats the version you requested. To publish newer writing instead, choose Publish post or Publish changes.

Choose the post's web address before its first publication. It stays fixed afterward so links to it keep working. Titles and content can still change.

If your site already has a page at the blog's web address, it keeps that page and has no blog until you move it. Move the page and publish your site, then publish your posts. Shingle never replaces your pages with the blog.

Help readers find it

Set a search title and description to explain what the post offers. If you leave them blank, Shingle uses the article's title and excerpt.

Published posts include their own search metadata and structured article information. Blog joins your site's menu once your first post is live, with an RSS feed at /rss.xml and article links in its sitemap. In Pages, you can rename Blog, move it in the menu or hide it from the menu.

The blog's own words, like All posts and the publication dates, follow your site's language.

Publication and update dates reflect the version readers can see. Saving private changes does not change those dates. Empty blog listings and tag-filtered pages ask search engines not to index them.

You can ask search engines not to index a post. People with its link can still read it; this setting does not make it private. Search engines decide when and how to show your pages.

Keep posts organized

Search your posts by title or filter them by status. Select a tag on any post to see only the posts with that tag, and remove it from above the list to see them all again. Archive a draft when you no longer need it in your working list, and restore it when you want to continue.

Choose Unpublish at the top of a live post to take it offline. It says Unpublishing until the site update finishes, and remains live meanwhile. Its draft stays saved. If the update fails, retry from the post editor. Wait for withdrawal to finish before archiving or deleting it.

You can cancel a first publication from the top of the post. Taking the whole site offline also hides its blog and feed.

Keep up to 500 saved posts, including drafts and archives. A site can publish up to 50 posts with 20 distinct topics. Shingle also checks the total content size before publishing and explains what to shorten if needed.

If another teammate saves while you are editing, Shingle asks you to reload the current version. Keep a copy of your unsaved words before replacing them.

Work with your team

Viewers can read posts. Members can write, organize and publish them. An admin or owner can permanently delete a post after confirming; deletion cannot be undone.

Posts belong to the site separately from its design versions. Restoring a site version does not change the blog. See Versions for restoring the site's pages.
